One of the great things about Snoopy was the way Charles Schulz let readers in on his imagination. We went along for the ride as he envisioned himself as Joe Cool, a prize-winning author, or a crack fighter pilot. I'm sure that aspect of the
Peanuts comic strip was one of the many things that served as an inspiration for future cartoonists like Bill Watterson.
Ha! That is perfect! Once again, comics should be fun!
ReplyDeleteLike a lot of people I grew up on Peanuts. As I got older Calvin & Hobbes just seemed to click.
I like that the holidays seem to be connected to Charlie Brown. There should be a cartoon, "It's Groundhog Day, Charlie Brown!" :)
Genius.
ReplyDeleteOne of your best covers yet. But where did you get that picture of Snoopy? Something about the linework doesn't quite look like Schulz.
ReplyDeleteIt's from Peanuts Vol 2. #5, Boom Studios
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful O_O
ReplyDeleteGuess you're gonna have to shut the site down now; you're never gonna make anything better than this. ;)
ReplyDeleteWish I could take credit for this one. Absolute masterpiece.
ReplyDelete"Curse you, Red Baron!"
ReplyDeleteI disagree with OTL, though. I think this could be outdone... for example, what if Gomer Pyle turned into Captain Marvel?
This has totally made my day. Snoopy's expression is a perfect choice.

@Bob Greenwade: It could be done.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great, fun cover Ross!!! Well done! Of course, now you know you've set the bar very high... :)
ReplyDeleteNow maybe a set of "cool" characters? Joe Cool (Snoopy), Johnny Bravo, Fonzie, the Blue Brothers... :P
Gregg
You should enjoy my next team in that case, it's coming up soon...
