I have been a fan of Man-Bat for years, but I never know quite what I am going to get when he makes a new appearance. I prefer him as a misunderstood hero, but he is just as likely to be used as the antagonist in a story. All too often I find him to be treated as little more than a mindless animal, or being used as a pawn in some other villain's plot. I wish poor old Kirk Langstrom would get a little more respect.
....another DC character that would be better utilized in the Marvel Universe!
ReplyDeleteI agree about Man-Bat, and I feel the exact same way about Morbius! A perfect pairing.

I just found your blog a little while ago. Your covers are very impressive. Lot of skill and a lot of imagination.
ReplyDeleteI did see somewhere that someone had posted you were working on doing some covers about the Crisis of Infinite Earths. I know you probably get a lot of suggestions, but have you considered doing your version of the of the front and back cover of the first issue? I'm just very curious what you would come up with.
As for Mobius Vs Man-Bat, it's awesome. But it did make me surprised when I noticed that you haven't done a cover with Dracula.
Anyway, I look forward to more of you work. I actually found your blog when looking for some crossover fanfiction. Glad I found it.

Charlie, I have indeed considered a riff on that cover with all the floating heroes, maybe I'll get to it one day. Until then, I hope you got a chance to check out issue #100, "Avengers in Crisis"...
ReplyDeleteI'll get around to Dracula one of these days too...
Did you see the first issue of the new comic "Scooby-Doo Team Up" that DC put out on November 20? The first team up is with Batman and Robin and the mystery features none other than Man-Bat! http://www.dccomics.com/comics/scooby-doo-team-up-2013/scooby-doo-team-up-1
ReplyDeleteYeah, cool - now I want the team up with The Harlem Globetrotters!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your reaction to Man-Bat; I was first introduced to him during his run as a hero in Batman Family (with art by Michael Golden). It disappoints me to see him treated too often as less than he can be...
