I have to believe that if these two shared a common universe, they would be crossing paths all the time. That is of course, if they were both alive - as each has had a prominent death depicted in the comics. Hal Jordan was eventually revived and given a second chance. He went on to gain more popularity than ever, and I still hold out hope that Mar-Vell will be given a similar opportunity to shine again one of these days.
I started reading Green Lantern in the early '80s, when he was exiled in space and having galactic adventures. He was my favorite DC comic at the time. So i was actually quite disappointed when the writers returned him to earth by '85. My interested petered out and I actually never followed up on GL until the Blackest Night saga! GL belongs in SPACE, not earth.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I loved Mar-Vell, I hope that they never bring him back. He is one of the last of the characters to have died that has not been revived. (Yes, I know there have been issues since his death that he's been featured, but those have either been Skrulls or past-selves brought into the future/present.) There needs to be some permanence to death somewhere. They brought Bucky back, they brought Barry Allen back. Leave Mar-Vell dead.
ReplyDeletethis would be the most natural crossover...too bad the Big TWO won't do crossovers again
ReplyDeleteMikey D. Is quite correct, GL and Mar-Vell are the most natural crossover (cool cover with similar flying positions), as Mar-Vell's origins were clearly taking cues from the groundwork laid down by the Silver Age Lantern universe. Moreover, the Darkseid vs. Thanos story...another natural!
