With carnage the likes of which was produced in issue #416, you just know the heavy hitters would be called in to clean up the mess. And who better to illustrate the tale than Art Adams? I first saw Adams' artwork gracing Marvel and DC titles in the late 80's and his style which merged a cartoonish whimsy with intricate detail was unlike anything I had seen before, and perfect for depicting super-heroic exploits.
Awwwwwww YEAAHHHHHHHH! ROSS is gonna get a lot of poster-size request for THIS!! I would love to have a wall size version of this hanging above my desk! Thor is Batman if he were suddenly turned into a god ;o)
ReplyDeleteAlways loved that Action Annual cover. Art Adams art for that issue was top. Quite envious of your owning the original art.
ReplyDeleteReally enjoying this blog too. Keep up the great work.
so NICE! And we haven't seen you post original artwork in over a year, so this was a real treat! Now how about another tutorial on using photoshop? (well, can't hurt to ask ;o)
ReplyDeleteJustice Machine and Dark Avengers or The Elementals and X-Force! Please.
ReplyDeleteThat because I ran out of art to post, my entire collection is already on here... I have paste this piece before but thought I should repost as it related so directly to today's cover.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Kirby's "Avengers #16" with the Masters of Evil (and Rick Jones) removed and members of the Justice League from Kirby's "Super Powers" series put in their place. Perhaps, as an alternative, adding (hopefully not replacing anybody) some of Kirby's Justice League members from "Super Powers" to this cover:

Thor and Batman versus Loki and The Joker! That is too cool!
ReplyDeleteLike the cover, though I think Batman's line should be "...But I do my best work at night!"
ReplyDeleteWow, awesome pairing. As Batman is familiar with working with Superman, I wonder how he'd do with Thor?
