The Demon and The X-Men
The X-Men as a franchise has grown more and more convoluted over the years. It was really a revelation for me to go back and read the original run again. Those stories are a blast to read since they lack the weight of decades of continuity. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby laid down a great foundation that is still being built upon today. I haven't read any of the latest X-Men series, where they original first class members have been brought to the present day, but it sounds like a cool idea. Hopefully, writer Brian Michael Bendis is able to capture some of the magic from the early days of the title.
im still wanting hot stuff to show up soon how bout composite super man vs super adaptoid or use amazo instead of cs also dr who and riddler due to question marks on out fits hellboy vs predator or aliens vs marvin the martian martian manhunter and any other odd character you choose
ReplyDeleteI can think of at least 3 upcoming covers that you should enjoy, according to that list...
ReplyDeleteCool Kirby characters!
ReplyDeleteThe most enjoyable thing about Etrigan is that he speaks in rhyme, which is a HUGE challenge to pull off! The only suggestion I could make to an awesome cover is to have him say something like
"So! You X-Men seek your beloved Professor!
"Where he has gone, only I, Etrigan can lead you to that door!"
The Demon is a cool character because he can be both a hero and a villain.
I'm a fan of what Bendis has done for Spider-Man and The Avengers, but...I think I'll stick with the classics and First Class with the X-Men and leave his new X-Men alone...
I wrote and illustrated a JLA comic many years back which included The Demon in one chapter. I had him speaking in rhyme and you are right, it was a real challenge!
ReplyDeleteRhyming characters can be a pain, but I've done them before and I'd do them again. It helps if you have a meter to use, and this makes the rhymes easier to choose.
ReplyDeleteMy dad a had a "gift" for doggeral verse. I have it too, but I think his was worse. ;)

Folks, he's going back to the original Kirby version. Only after Paul Levitz & Alan Moore got through with him did he become a Rhymer. Cool concept Ross.
ReplyDeleteHow about:
ReplyDelete"Ye brats seek your beloved baldy?
I fear he's off to someplace scaldy;
So if returned to world of man
You'd rather he, plead, 'Etrigan'!"
this would've been better if the background color were darker blue or purple, and if the Mimic's ice-slide were red or brown so that it would've looked more like a melted flagpole, giving it a more 'hellish' appearance.
ReplyDeleteHow about something like:
ReplyDelete" Your professor is who you need?
Where he's gone only I can lead"
