It's a good thing that Ambush Bug can teleport because it is a skill that would come in handy if he were to ever join up with The Hulk for an adventure. Their color scheme is about the only thing that they have in common, and I think that their differences in style would make for a fun romp. I really hope that Keith Giffen brings Ambush Bug into the New 52, because I would love to see what he has to say about the changed landscape.
Dave sez,
ReplyDeleteThat is a hilarious cover! Ambush Bug is such a fun character. I can see why there wouldn't be room in The New 52 for him. The New 52 is not a very fun place any more.
I agree with Dave, the nu52 is so joyless, I'm not sure I want to see what they'd do with Ambush Bug.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Keith Giffen , Captain K'Rot in Threshhold is his next project. I openly cringed when I saw the redesign, but Giffen is doing the writing so maybe there'll be comedic commentary? Considering the amount of editorial meddling as of late, my outlook isn't too good, but we'll wait and see.
That said, I like the cover. Great concept.

'Bug's in the new 52, but he's a news reporter this time for the new series Channel 52.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, a Giffen-written adventure w/these two would be funny as hell.
This absolutely would have the potential for being the funniest superhero story ever written. It would almost warrant a release on April 1.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you'll have something just as crazy lined up for that date. Maybe an ad hoc team of Ambush Bug, Impossible Man, Foxbat, Freakazoid, and the Tick would do.
Speaking of significant dates, with Doctor Who having its 50th anniversary this November, are you planning anything in observance?
Ross, hands down, your FUNNIEST cover......Ever!!!!
ReplyDeleteid like to see bartman of the simpsons be involved with the batman family somehow
ReplyDeleteDefinitely more Dr. Who covers coming, but I don't know that they will be posted on any particular day.
ReplyDelete"Hopefully you'll have something just as crazy lined up for that date. Maybe an ad hoc team of Ambush Bug, Impossible Man, Foxbat, Freakazoid, and the Tick would do." I can go with these characters, yes ..... but
ReplyDeleteno Myxyzptlk? Outrageous! But i could do with a Freakazoid/Badger team-up! Hey Larry!
We can never have too much Ambush Bug, so I want Ambush teamed up with The Tick next! Unfortunately, I can't think of any "insect" puns for the title.
ReplyDeleteThere's a cover coming down the line that I think you will like.
ReplyDeleteActually, Robert Loren Fleming wrote the Ambush Bug's own titles. Giffen wrote him when he was able to rationalize using him as a guest star (like in "Doom Patrol" or "52").
