Alfred and Jarvis
This pairing has been one of my most frequent requests. I can understand why, because I have always enjoyed both characters and the unique perspective they bring to the comic book worlds that they inhabit. I've actually lost track of Jarvis in the past several years. Did he survive the Brian Michael Bendis era? Has Marvel tried to transform him into just a computer program, to more closely reflect the movies? I hope he has received better treatment than that! Alfred just survived another close call with The Joker, but I am sure he`ll be sticking around. He looks to have a large role to play in the upcoming Beware the Batman animated series and it's only a matter of time before we see him in a rebooted Batman film franchise. Let's hope the next actor to play him will be sporting a mustache for once!
About time! Awesome pairing. Now I'd like to see either of them hook up with Cadbury from Richie Rich!
ReplyDeleteI second that! Great cover Ross!
ReplyDeleteadd in the Archie heroes and Smithers from the Lodge family and this would be even more fun to read.
ReplyDeleteBattling Butler Brigade?
ReplyDeleteWhere's Cadbury from Richie Rich?? Ross, how could you....?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure which I like better: this one, or JJJ vs. Perry White. What's next? Flash Thomson and Steve Lombard?
ReplyDeleteUsing the background from "Hulk: Future Imperfect" made me giggle. Before it was published there was an advance promotional package that had B&W photocopies of select pages of art, including the two page spread of Rick Jones' trophy room seen here. When the book was finally printed the art bled right to the edge of the page, cutting off the extreme margins of the original, where Peréz hid some DC artifacts among the Marvel ones, making that scene a spiritual antecedent to this blog. I think a few things might have survived the edit, like the bottled city of Kandor and Wonder Woman's lasso.
ReplyDeleteThe lantern was in there, too. I added in a few tiny bits, footage of Superman and Flash's death scenes and the bat symbol slickers.
ReplyDeleteYahooooo!Alfred and Jarvis in their prime looks absolutely fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThey should have a wash-up competition, huh? A face-off of sorts, ha!
iron man noir and rocketeer
ReplyDeleteAha! Maestro's trophy room!
ReplyDeleteLove the pairing but here is something I wonder if you could put together ... Alfred as subbed for Batman before but Jarvis has never worn the iron man suit. if you could find a picture with iron man without helmet and a picture of Jarvis's head matching you could have the new World's Finest replacement team - Alfred (Batman) and Jarvis (Iron Man).
