This team up is one of the most frequent requests that I have received, and one that I have personally wanted to see since I was a kid. I love the World War II setting for comics because it recalls the early formative days of the genre. All-Star Comics and then All-Star Squadron were favorites of mine and the yearly JLA/JSA team-ups were awesome to me in a time where huge gatherings of superheroes were still few and far between. The Invaders had such a great core line-up with Captain America, Namor and the Human Torch, that I was always drawn to their appearances. Having Roy Thomas as a prominent writer of both teams gave me hope that we would maybe one day see an actual crossover between the two, but sadly it just wasn't to be.

Justice Society of America and The Invaders
This team up is one of the most frequent requests that I have received, and one that I have personally wanted to see since I was a kid. All-Star Comics and then All-Star Squadron were favorites of mine and the yearly JLA/JSA team-ups were awesome to me in a time where huge gatherings of superheroes were still few and far between. Loved the team up! I think you meant to write "Namor" rather than "Thor." No worries, first mistake I've EVER seen you make in the 3 years I've been visiting you blog. By the way, THANKS!!!!
ReplyDeleteAvengers on the brain, I've been watching season 2 of their animated show. Thanks for following the blog for so long!
ReplyDeleteJust been reading Invaders Classic 1- a very strong collection of stories, introducing my two favourite retro-fitted Golden Agers: Union Jack and Spitfire.
ReplyDeleteThis is also one of my favourite JSA lineups -one not dominated by GL and Fate. Just add Simon and Kirby's Sandman and Sandy and I'm happy. I would love to read this comic!
Best Teamup yet! Here's to hoping the powers that be restore the original history of the JSA.
ReplyDeleteDave sez,
ReplyDeleteYes! I have been waiting for this one!
Here's what I would love to see: Golden-Age Thor and Loki along with Wolverine as part of The Invaders. It could work...think about it: Thor and Loki are immortals, and Wolverine is nigh-invulnerable with his healing factor.
Maybe throw in Hercules for kicks.
Any body from the JSA or All-Stars could work, but probably Wonder Woman, Sandman and either Dian Belmont or Sandy would work best along with The Hawks.
That could be kinda cool...
Ever read the Freedom Fighters battle with the Crusaders -a thinly disguised version of the Invaders? Good bronze age fun.
ReplyDeleteFun city!!!! It would be great for Roy Thomas & John Byrne team up also. Maybe Jerry Ordway On inks. I would buy for sure!!!!

I, too, love this! Read and enjoyed all these titles, and wish Roy Thomas had made it happen somehow. Great work, as always!
ReplyDeleteThis was on my list of the 5 comic crossovers I want to see on my blog.

One wonders if this is some cosmic game of "chance" between Mopee and the Grandmaster?
