Chewbacca Joins Star Trek: The Next Generation
It's nice to see the two big science fiction franchises still going strong. We should be seeing a trailer for the next Star Trek film soon, and I am looking forward to it since I quite enjoyed the first outing by JJ Abrams and the new crew. Star Wars is set to explode again, now that it is under the control of Diseny. The two bits that I have heard confirmed regarding Episode 7 - that it will be written by Toy Story 3's Michael Arndt and that it will feature Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher - have me very interested. Hopefully the visions of Jar Jar and a 10 year old Darth Vader saying, "Yipppeeee!" will fade away for good now.
Interesting to have him as Captain. I would have had him as Security Officer after Worf went to DS9. As for Star Trek I didn't care for the one by Abrams. I doubt I will see the next film. I am curious about the next Star Wars. I hope it lives up to the ones from the 70's.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Rick as to where Chewie should land on the Enterprise-E; it certainly makes sense. But I love this cover in all other ways, particularly your wordplay.
ReplyDeleteI liked the new Star Trek film, particularly the scene between Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy. The casting was excellently done, except that Zoe Saldana seemed "wrong" as Uhura (not that there was anything bad about her performance; she just didn't seem to match up with Nichelle Nichols' more elegant portrayal).
As for Star Wars' prequel trilogy, the only thing I really dislike about it was Jar Jar. Never mind any associated racial stereotypes; despite being decent comic relief, he's just as annoying to audiences as to his allies. Plus, to be quite frank, he's just stupid. But all other aspects of the films turned the first six movies (taken as a whole) into a decent character study of Anakin Skywalker.
Hey, Chewie knows his way around piloting spacecraft, he could be Captain - don't hold the furry guy back!
ReplyDeleteI bent my wookie!
ReplyDeleteDave sez,
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!
Bill Campbell's TNG space pirate character must have been cut from the same mold as either Harry Mudd or Han Solo! I could see Han Solo making a cameo, with Chewie as a security officer.
I'm kinda wondering where Star Wars will go. The only place it seems to be able to go is maybe the direction Timothy Zahn set with his book series...It is nice to see that most of the original characters want to come back...
I like the new Star Trek. It was a pretty solid reboot in a Back To The Future: Part II sort of way; except, I didn't really care for Spocks meeting each other...
I can just see Mark Hamill as a middle-aged Jedi Master...and, perhaps, Annette O'Toole as Mara Jade.
ReplyDeleteData looks worried! :-D

ReplyDeleteAbout that hate for the prequels-http://www.lardbiscuit.com/lard/ilovetpm.html
Personally, I loved the prequels.
