The Atom and The Wasp
Marvel's Ant-Man finally has a release date and hopefully Edgar Wright also has plans for Janet Van Dyne in the film. Ant-Man and the Wasp were founding members of The Avengers and they both really deserve to be in the sequel. DC's Justice League finally got a tentative release date was well this past week. While I would love to see The Atom show up, I don't think that's going to happen, at least in the first installment of the franchise. The Atom may very well show up in a sequel, but DC may opt to skip over Ray Palmer and go with the Ryan Choi version for the sake of diversity, just as they have done in the New 52. Whichever Atom they choose, let's hope we see Atom's little floating chair that he used for JLA meetings - I ued to love that!
I have to disagree. I always thought the Ant Man and the Wasp seemed out of place next to powerhouses like the Hulk and Thor.
ReplyDeleteI think the Avengers movie was so well done, any movie based on the Justice League just isn't going to cut the mustard. Especialy since all they have to base on on is a crappy Superman movie and some ok Batman movies.
Get Peter Jackson to direct a movie written by the guys who did the Animated JLA and you could have a quality hit.
ReplyDeleteDave sez,
ReplyDeleteBrilliant team-up!
The first thing I did when I heard the JLA announcement was go grab my stack of Justice League Adventures issues. The only way Warner Bros./DC can compete with Marvel/Disney now is to use the model for the animated JL. I would only accept Black Canary in place of J'onn J'onzz, and John Stewart in for Hal. Vic Stone is a Teen Titan.
I think there's a place for Hank and Jan with The Avengers. Maybe in some supporting role with Stark and Banner. Maybe a third or fourth sequel will bring Ultron...
I think if Hank and Jan show up in the next Avengers movie, we could see Ultron in the *second* sequel.
ReplyDeleteAnd, of course, low-powered heroes next to high-powered heroes has been a strong feature of the Avengers since early on. It's like how the JLA has Green Arrow and Black Canary fighting next to Superman and Wonder Woman.
Plus, Ultron is one of the Avengers' classic foes, and Hank Pym is almost required to bring him about (shy of some major tweaking of Ultron's origin story... and when has that ever happened in Hollywood?).
