Happy Halloween! I was the perfect age when the first
Nightmare on Elm Street hit theaters. I'm not a huge horror fan these days but back in high school there was nothing more fun than popping in a scary flick with a bunch of friends and junk food. This franchise was especially fun because of the creative ways they used dreamscapes and Robert Englund's darkly humorous performances. I think my favorite outing was the third one - I was a big fan of Kincaid. I haven't seen the updated version featuring Jackie Earle Haley - hopefully they kept in the laughs as well as the kills.
This is awesome! And if you really like the original, I would skip the remake. They took a great movie and made it BORING.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween!
I'm not a fan of the Elm Street films, but I know enough about them to know that the line you gave Freddy here is dead-on.
ReplyDeleteSo, do you already have next Halloween's match-up planned out? Maybe something like Batman vs. Alien?
I'll try to have something suitably creepy.
ReplyDeleteVery cool and unique pairing there Ross. I would have thought to put those two together but it works.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Freddy would give Spidey a hell of a fight, even with Spidey's powers and all.
Wolverine and Freddy would be an excellent if not obvious choice as well.
Personally, I always thought that Freddy would be a good match for Dr. Strange.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Ghost Rider or Daimon Hellstrom as good matches for Freddy?
Deletehow bout 2 parter spider girl batgirl then spider girl batwoman
ReplyDeleteI second that request!
DeleteSorry, but I never liked the Elm Street movies. I'm one of those old dinosaurs who believes to the depths of my soul that great horror movies died with the likes of Karloff, Lugosi, Chaney, et al.
ReplyDeletePoor Spidey.Unless his spider powers work in the dream world, he's a goner. Demon fighting heroes like Dr Strange, Ghost Rider and Daimon Hellstorm should be the ones to fight Freddy.
ReplyDeleteThis should be a real comic. I'm a horror fan and I think a lot of slashers like Freddy are basically supervillains without superheroes.
ReplyDeleteFreddy vs the Green Goblin. Don’t they have a similar sinister laugh?
