Wonder Woman and Wolverine

This is my favorite version of Wolverine - with the brown suit and without the memories.  I was hoping that the conclusion of the Avengers Vs. X-Men event would result in Wolverine finally leaving the Avengers, but it looks like Marvel is going in the other direction and further mixing the two teams together.  It's a strange move and I feel that it serves to make the various teams less unique, but maybe they have something in mind with the set up that I haven't thought of.

I also read that Wonder Woman is once again being prepared for a potential TV series.  Let's hope they learned something from the mistakes made with the last attempt, which looked pretty lackluster from the footage I saw of it.

  1. I disliked John Byrne's Wonder Woman run, so is it damning with faint praise to say that one of the better things to come out of it was facilitating this team up image? Anyway, that's my Wolverine, who was a favorite when I was growing up, but now means next to nothing to me.

I never forgave Marvel for the Bendis Avengers relaunch that added Logan and Spider-Man to the team-- mutually assured destruction of the integrity of all involved properties.

  2. Although not a Marvel collector, I scratched my head for years at the inclusion of Wolverine and Spiderman in the Avengers. Wolverine never even like being in the X-Men, so what the heck was he doing with others. And I always considered Spiderman one of Marvels ultimate loners- but all that is history now. Anyone who started collected comics in 2001 and after will have no recollection or idea of this.

  3. Dave sez,

    Pretty cool cover.

I'm not a die-hard John Byrne fan, probably George Perez' Wonder Woman was better...
I've never followed the X-Men too closely either....except around the end of the '90's into the 2000's...

I did follow all of Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man. As an Avengers fan, I stopped reading well before the "DisAssembled" storyline. "I bought into his theory that Marvel's "heavy-hitters" should be on the team. The Avengers is a flagship title like Justice League of America, so why not. I followed what he was doing and it seemed to fit pretty well with the late '70's, '80's and Busiek-Perez run I'd enjoyed. I would love to see Daredevil on The Avengers.

Spider-Man, Wolverine and The Batman are kinda alike, but The Batman is on the Justice League...one of the founders...

    Well, I enjoyed it...every one's mileage varies.

    Cool cover.

  4. Spidey is strictly an Avenger Reservist, folks! A compromise he reached with Capt. America, himself. Meaning, Spidey will help the Avengers with the really big crises if they need him. Otherwise, he's free to concentrate his solo efforts on street crime.

The big difference between Reserve status and his prior aid to the Avengers as a non-member ally? He gets paid for the former!
