Man-Bat Vs. Spider-Man

Man-Bat is one of my favorite Batman villains.  Villain is probably the wrong word though, as he is often not in control of his own actions when pitted against the caped crusader.  I like tales featuring the more clear headed, heroic Man-Bat as well.  I still think there is a great Batman movie to be had using Dr. Hugo Strange and pulling in Man-Bat and Killer Croc in via his monster men experiments.  Alas, that film is only in my fevered imagination, so I will have to make do with Spider-Man battling the Lizard in a few weeks.  That looks to be fun, but I wish the Lizard looked closer to his comic counterpart.  As Man-Bat illustrates - monsters are cool, but monsters wearing pants are cooler!

  1. I gotta' agree with you on that one. Monsters wearing pants are pretty damn cool. Case in point, The Lizard and the Hulk.

This pairing seems like a natural though, and not out of place as a potential Spidey foe.

    Next up: Morbius vs. Man-Bat!
    Do it!!!!!

  2. You know what's funny--there's a character who was introduced in Spidey's comics who's almost a teenage version of Man-Bat, Batwing.

  3. Ah yes, that was in Untold Tales Of Spider-man - what a great series.

Dale - you can count on a Morbius/Man-Bat cover on this blog coming your way...

  4. ......not so fast Ross. Batman will definitely be re-booted now that Nolan and Bale are done with the Dark Knight after this film. We might just see what you suggested.

  5. Great team up; the early 1970s was the breakout age of monsters in superhero comics, and there were no better 'gateway, comics than titles starring Batman (Detective for Man-Bat), and Spider-Man (Morbius and Man-Wolf).

After this great cover, you're almost forced to do a Batman vs. Morbius and/or Man-Wolf cover!
