Blue Beetle and The Beast
A lot of team ups I present here will be with characters that seem to have a natural connection... but a lot will also feature teams that I just think would be cool to see. This is one of those. It isn't too far out of left field though, I can see Hank McCoy and Ted Kord commiserating on some scientific breakthrough together, when a villain attacks and action ensues. This cover also features these characters in my favorite incarnations. The new Blue Beetle is an entertaining character in his own right, I just wish we didn't have to get rid of his predecessor in order to make room. The Beast is back on an Avengers team, which I like - but he still has that weird Beauty and the Beast/Kittycat look that he developed during the Grant Morrison era ox the X-men titles. I really wish he would go back to his cooler Bronze Age look.
How about teaming the Fantastic Four wwith the Challengers of the Unknown.
ReplyDeleteI certainly like the idea of the Fantastic Four meeting their inspiration, the Challengers of the Unknown, but how about this gem: The X-Men team up with the Doom Patrol? Or, the Swamp Thing vs. the Man-Thing?
ReplyDeleteChris N
I have covers for all of these pairings coming up.
ReplyDeleteChris, did you miss the January 2 post?
I would personally have put Blue Beetle with Moon Knight, since both were effectively non-powered vigilantes that never the less had 'super' ties to Egyptian Mythology... and both were often compared to Batman.
ReplyDeleteRe: Chris N -- Swamp-Thing / Man-Thing was five days ago.
ReplyDeletemoon knight and hawkman cooler pairing
ReplyDeleteAdolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters and Captain Carrot and the Amazing Zoo Crew! You just gotta do it Ross....you just HAVE to!!
ReplyDeleteDave sez,
ReplyDeleteCan a Booster Gold - Wonder Man team-up be far behind? Would that be Blue & Gold meets Blue & Cold? (Is Wonder Man dead or is he back alive?)
That particular issue of Marvel Team-Up (#124, with Spidey & The Beast) was one of my very favorite comics as a kid. I must've read it a hundred times.
ReplyDeleteConan The Barbarian and Arak, Son of Thunder (you already used DC's The Warlord, but never got around to this sword & sorcery guy from the early 1980's!).
ReplyDeleteArak is also one of DC's few Native American heroes (along with Dawnstar of the Legion) depicted with great respect to Native American culture and folklore.
ReplyDeleteI Can't wait to see the X-Men Doom Patrol. How about Spider-man and The Fly?
ReplyDeleteSpider-Man and The Fly will be fetured eventually...
ReplyDeleteAmen on this teaming. Bwahaha never looked so good!
ReplyDeleteAnd amen on your points!
