I remember when Marvel introduced it's line of 2099 titles and checking them out.
Spider-Man 2099 was my favorite of the bunch (although I did like
Doom 2099 as well) and indeed is the one character from that initiative that has seemed to have any staying power. He seems to pop up in a Spider-man related title or even a video game every now and then. I definitely dig his look and the fact that he was a new character and not just a descendant of Peter Parker. Have Miguel O'Hara and Peter Parker ever shared an adventure together? That's a tale I would like to read.
Should have been Batman Beyond....But I like the idea of it!
ReplyDeleteThere was a mini two or three years back called Timestorm where Spidey met a Spidey 2099 with that costume but it seemed to be a slightly different character. I think they explained it as being an alternate universere version of the 2099 world.
ReplyDeleteThere was also a bookshelf edition where Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 switched places. Spider-man fought the Hobgoblin of 2099, while Spidey 2099 (who woke up in bed with Mary Jane) fought Venom. In the end, they teamed up and fought the guy responsible (someone from the further future). HIS nemesis, Spider-Man...err...2300 or something like that...came in and helped them out. It was a good story that included Miguel telling JJJ that he's not even a footnote in history, while the two Spider-men exchanged why they do what they do. (for Miguel: "To be like you." Auhhh).
ReplyDeleteSpider Man Y299 was a great title...good art great stories. Well worth finding in the dollar bins at you local comic shops. In fact...they should bring that title back.
ReplyDelete@ Mikeyboy. Thanx for the tip. I will check that out. Most likely at Forbidden Planet NYC.
ReplyDeleteROSS, will you be at the New York Comic Convention this October? You deserve a booth!!! A year of Great Work.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what I'd do with a convention booth!
