The Thing and Snake Plissken
This one was a request form a friend and I wasn't sure that I would be able to fulfill it at first. Upon a little bit of searching, it turns out there have been a few series based on Kurt Russel's Escape From New York character. It really is amazing how many movies have not just been adapted into comics, but expanded and extrapolated upon by them. That's another great aspect of the hobby, readers can see sequels and continuations of a lot of their favorite film properties, even if the movie versions don't provide them.
I have heard rumors of a cinematic reboot of Escape From New York, and that seems like an unnecessary remake. The original still holds up pretty well.
Dave sez,
ReplyDelete"Snake Plissken? I thought you were DEAD!"
Kurt Russell is an incredibly versatile and talented actor! Comedy, Drama, Action...
I thought I read something about a "Thing" reboot...just one of his many great movies!
I am really excited about the next League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! Doc Brown and Jack Burton avenging Mr. Myagi!
There's got to be a way to team Ben and Jack Burton together!
Or, maybe a The Thing - Thing two-in-one!
Be careful what you wish for.
ReplyDeleteI really loved the first one, everything from the soundtrack to the special effects that is up there with RoboCop and the first Terminator as being timeless.
ReplyDeleteFunny that you would post this because I finally got around seeing the sequel this week and what a freight load of horse crap that was. Not just the special effects, which looks like there were done by a drug addict who blew his budget on coke the night before and was just winging it, but just a horrible script that was a giant FU to everyone who was a fan of the franchise in the first place.
Escape from LA has got to go down there with Highlander 2 as one of the worst sequels ever.
GREAT ONE, SIR!!! And I'm with Cathy & Dave; I'd LOVE to see Ol' Jack Burton team up with Petunia's favorite nephew!!! ;-)
