Batman and Hercules
Hercules has always been a fun character and I am happy to see that he has gotten a higher profile over the past couple of years. He is appealing in that he is one of the few superheroes that seems to truly enjoy his line of work, and that is refreshing as a reader. I think it was a good idea to give him a sidekick in Amadeus Cho, as he is the most effective when he has a straight man to work off of.
There are certain characters in which I hear a particular voice in my mind when I read their dialogue. With Hercules, the voice of John Rhys-Davies (Gimli in The Lord of the Rings and Sallah in Raiders of the Lost Ark) seems to fit perfectly.
Great one! I love him too. I bet Aquaman from the Brave & the Bold catoon is based on him.
ReplyDeleteI totally got a Hercules vibe from BB aquaman!
ReplyDeleteRoss THANK THANK THANK YOU!!!!!
Now you have to do one with one of the DC Hercules, like the future post-disaster Earth one!
ReplyDeleteNot a lot of material to work with when it comes to DC's Hercules! Oh, and I totally agree with the comparison to the B:B&B Herc!
ReplyDeleteWell, there was Hercules Unbound, there were issues of that with Walt Simonson art that could be paired with Simonson Batman art (if you happen to have the "Art of Walt Simonson" book DC did in the 1980s, you'll see what I mean). I could check it out and see if anything looks like it might be a good fit for you!
ReplyDeleteI believe Herc's history got tied in with the Atomic Knights at one point, and possibly Kamandi, too (but I could be misremembering that latter part).
I didnt even know DC had a hercules!
ReplyDeleteWow...John Ryhs-Davies is the perfect voice for Herc. Now I'll picture that voice as I read his series...
ReplyDeleteThe part of the cover you used for Hercules is from probably one of my most favorite Thor comics of all time.
