Grendel and Aeon Flux
Like Aeon Flux, I think that Grendel would look very cool in cartoon form. His simple but effective design would lend itself very well to an animated series or feature. I can imagine it being aimed at older viewers, to keep the tone of his comic stories intact.

Mera and The Sub-Mariner
As with yesterday's cover, this is another pairing that I have been meaning to get to for a while. I can just see Namor taking advantage of the fact that Aquaman isn't around to make the moves on Mera. It seems like they go to the same tailor - perhaps there's some history there that we don't know about...

Solomon Grundy Vs. The Hulk
The Hulk gets stronger the angrier that he gets, and if you manage to kill Grundy, he will just come back - this would definitely be a battle that would last a while. I think after a lot of property damage, I'd have to give the edge to ol' Jade Jaws.
These two met once before, fighting side by side against Green Arrow and Hawkeye...

Batman and Daughters of the Dragon
We got to see Misty Knight in live action in Netflix' Luke Cage, and now Colleen Wing is soon to get her chance to shine when Iron Fist is released on the network. I look forward to The Defenders, where I assume the two will meet at some point and hopefully begin their detective agency and partnership.

Ragman and Thor
Even though he is not an exact replica from the comics, I have enjoyed seeing Ragman in action on the current season of Arrow. The effects they use for his living suit are effective, if a little bit fleeting - I often find myself rewinding to see what just happened. Again, not perfect, but it is still very cool to see characters like Ragman and Wild Dog get some exposure beyond the comics.

Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and Brotherhood of Evil
As if having a super-powered team of misfits with a wheelchair-bound leader wasn't enough to make them similar to one another, The X-Men and Doom Patrol even fought villainous groups with practically the same name! I'd love to see more of DC's Brotherhood, I always thought they were a formidable bunch back in the day.
This cover comes about from a suggestion my David Welsh, a Patron of this blog. Thank you very much, David!

Constantine joins The X-Files
I watched the Justice League Dark animated movie last night and it was a lot of fun to watch Constantine, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Deadman and The Demon fighting side by side. Batman was included as the connection to the traditional JLA, but I didn't mind as he works well with all of those characters. It's a visually cool 70 minutes and definitely has me anticipating the live action version that is finally starting to pick up steam.

Animal Man in Jurassic Park
I had just finished reading Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park when the movie adaptation was announced. Dinosaurs had usually been pretty unconvincing on the big screen at that point, so I was glad that Stephen Spielberg would be directing, I knew he would pay close attention to the visuals. And did he ever, that first groundbreaking movie still stands up on present day viewings.

Cable and The Legion of Super-Heroes
It seems that Pierce Brosnan is close to signing on to joining the Deadpool sequel as Cable. I think this is great casting, I've always enjoyed Brosnan as an actor, especially his post-Bond career. I hope he comes complete with lots of pouches on his suit and oversized weaponry for Deadpool to comment upon, there's a lot of comedy to be mined from including a no-nonsense type like Cable into the mix.

Johnny Thunder and Shazzan
I thought that this would be a fun match up. it would be nice to see Thunderbolt and Shazzan really go at it without having to hold back. It would be cool to see it animated - come to think of it, there's never been a cartoon Johnny Thunder & T-Bolt- let's change that, DC Animation!

The Demon and Doctor Strange in "Satanic Subterfuge!"
I am very interested to see how Doctor Strange will be utilized in Thor: Ragnarok, especially given the fact that the bulk of the film is supposed to be set off of Earth. Will Strange be there for a framing sequence or join the other characters on their otherworld adventure? I just hope he has plenty of screen time alongside The Hulk - that's at least two of the Defenders finally united in the movies!
This is the third meeting between these two - they previously shared the spotlight in STF #1044 and STF #81...

Scandal Savage and X-23
This cover comes about as the result of a request from Gail Simone, writer of Secret Six, Birds of Prey, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Red Sonja and many more titles. Gail's stories are filled with humor, interesting plot twists and always intriguing character interaction. Thanks for all the great reading and for suggesting this pairing, Gail!

Adam Strange and Rocket Raccoon
Even though they are among the last effects to be completed, I am glad that we got a glimpse of Rocket Raccoon and Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 teaser trailer. it will be fun to watch the new dynamic, with Rocket teaching Baby Groot the ropes, and should make for some humorous moments. The toys will probably be flying off of the shelves as well!
Adam met Rocket once before, along with the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy...

Han Solo and Star Trek
Filming on the Han Solo film has begun. I still think it's a tall order to try and recapture Harrison Ford's iconic character with a new actor in the role, but after being so pleasantly surprised with Rogue One, I am willing to keep an open mind.
Kirk probably still has a grudge against Solo after how their partnership ended... and Chewbacca will continue to get involved with The Federation right into the Next Generation...

Black Panther Vs. Cat-Man
Cat-Man is the perfect example of a character just needing the right take. He had been around for decades as a C-list Batman villain that nobody took particularly seriously. Gail Simone made him a key member of the revamped Secret Six and gave him a new depth and back story that really impressed me. Now, instead of a joke, he's an interesting and highly competent character in the DCU that I always keep an eye out for.

Green Lantern and Marvel Boy
I liked Marvel Boy from his appearances in Fantastic Four when I was a kid and was glad to see him come back as The Uranian as a member of the Agents of Atlas. I really dug that team, and I hope we haven't seen the last of them.

Hawk & Dove and The Punisher
I've lost track of where Hawk & Dove are in the DCU these days. I remember them having a big role in the Blackest Night/Brightest Day event from a few years back, but haven't read much about them since. The new Titans series seems to be an appropriate place to make a rebirth of their own, if it hasn't happened already.

The Flash and Daredevil
Grant Gustin has hinted that he will be getting another upgrade to his costume on The Flash, maybe by the end of the season. I hope they finally go with the yellow/gold boots this time. They have him wearing red boots on the 90's series, this show, and for the upcoming Justice League film - and I don't understand why the live action suit designers keep doing that.

Devil Dinosaur Vs. Krypto
Devil Dinosaur has always been a cool character and now he is back in a new series. There's no Moon Boy, however, this time he is paired with Moon Girl, another pre-teen genius that Marvel seems fond of creating. I haven't checked it out to see how it matches up against Kirby's take, but the artwork I have seen from it looks like a lot of fun.
I borrowed the story title here from one of my favorite episodes of one of my favorite cartoons, Bonus points if you recognize it!

The Metal Men and Nova
Though they weren't everyone's cup of tea, I enjoyed the CGI animated series Green Lantern and Beware the Batman. Should DC decide to utilize that style again, I think that The Metal Men would be a perfect fit for it. I have loved all of their animated appearances so far, and it would be great to see them and their wild rogues gallery in full CGI glory.
