His appearance is innocent and clown-like enough that it worked okay. Loved it, and yes, Mickey Rooney's character was probably supposed to appear clown-like, but he was clearly a blackface minstrel sort.
Still liked the movie. Thought it went a bit overboard with the 'evil aspects' that threatened Slumberland.Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04757092778159044657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6730409500376659257.post-9754781302349291282016-07-30T16:03:42.081-04:002016-07-30T16:03:42.081-04:00This has to be the greatest cover yet. It featured the voice of the late, great Mickey Rooney as the character who--for some reason--had been drawn to look like a 19th-century "minstrel!"

As I recall, the movie ended with LN and the Jasmine-like princess flying off on the magic bed to "live" happily ever after. But, that kind of freaked me out. Because that would entail the kid never waking up in the real world! Which would, of course, have freaked out his parents. Their son remaining catatonic in perpetuity.*

*Hey! I'm basically a realist. Where optimists see the glass as half-full, and pessimists see it as half-empty, realists know that it eventually becomes totally empty, thereby requiring a refill twice as fast as a glass that's already filled to the brim. ;-)Carycomichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16657443977195909129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6730409500376659257.post-72416194098776894042016-07-29T11:39:31.229-04:002016-07-29T11:39:31.229-04:00The short story collection Sandman: Book of Dreams...The short story collection Sandman: Book of Dreams actually had a Sandman/Little Nemo crossover

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sandman:_Book_of_DreamsMatthewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04695983348254508387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6730409500376659257.post-72475806071927216492016-07-29T10:03:04.947-04:002016-07-29T10:03:04.947-04:00Someone has to forward this to Gaiman.Someone has to forward this to Gaiman.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6730409500376659257.post-137755981166851402016-07-29T09:46:28.081-04:002016-07-29T09:46:28.081-04:00I'm not at all familiar with Gaiman's Sand...I'm not at all familiar with Gaiman's Sandman, but if a movie could be made of The Watchmen and Lord of the Rings, no one is spared as being 'unable to be filmed'.
