I first read his reprinted yarn in an issue of Fantasy Masterpieces when I was mere youth, and it made a mighty impression.

As you say, it was way cool when he drifted out of the Atlas valley into the broader Marvel Universe, but I haven't been as happy with all his appearances. It's inevitable that familiarity will breed some loss awe, and sadly that's happened with our favorite dragon.

But that first masterpiece by Lee and Kirby and Ayers is a comic pearl of great price.

Rip OffRip Jaggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09936426877024852134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6730409500376659257.post-52400963050371346362013-11-03T09:44:29.554-05:002013-11-03T09:44:29.554-05:00Given his weakness against fire, Martian Manhunter...Given his weakness against fire, Martian Manhunter is the perfect DC hero to put against Fin Fang Foom, at least for dramatic purposes. he has the most impressive array of powers, but any time a superhero faces an opponent based on his specific weakness (like Superman versus Metallo) it makes for a special challenge.

Another possibility would be to put FFF up against a DC hero with no actual superpowers, such as Green Arrow. (If you put him against Batman, the poor dragon won't stand a chance!) Better yet, put him up against the Shining Knight; what could be cooler than a knight versus a dragon?

I hadn't really thought about seeing FFF in one of the Marvel movies, but now that you mention it that would be cool. Of those currently in production, Iron Man does seem like the right fit, though he's epic enough that it might seem right to bring the whole Avengers team against him.Bob Greenwadehttp://lulu.com/spotlight/bobgreenwadenoreply@blogger.com
