Legion of Super-Heroes and Power Rangers
Will there ever be a live action Legion of Super-Heroes film? Given the sprawling cast and the young age of the characters, I think that a streaming series would be a better option. That's probably even more unlikely.
Eh, a single, stand-alone film with no planned sequels whatsoever would be fine. It's more than we've ever had before, after all. A streaming series would really be great, but I think you're right that it's much more unlikely.
Given that most sci-fi-oriented adventures series made-for-streaming have proven to be one-season wonders, I'd say you have every right to be dubious. But, if this were an actual comic book turned into a real-world big budget epic for the silver screen? Heck, yeah! I'd shell out hard-earned bucks for this with no hesitation, whatsoever! :-)
Several Legionnaires are part of various ad hoc teams that have appeared on this blog. What about Princess Projectra? Are there enough "illusion casters" in comics to make a team of them? Alternately, how about heroes who are royals?
In the latter vein, perhaps you could at least pair her with Black Panther or Princess Leia.
And perhaps face them off against royal villains, such as Victor von Doom and (a bit of a stretch) the Royal Flush Gang? (Though Doom isn't technically royal I suppose -- he just became a monarch by seizing power, rather than being born to the role.)
Other royal heroes include Starman (Prince Gavyn version), Starfire (Princess Koriand'r), Star Lord (hmm, sensing a "star" theme here), Storm, Wonder Woman, He-Man, She-Ra, and Amethyst. Aquaman and Mera are both monarchs, right?
Villains might include Black Adam (like Doom, not born royal).
And you could put Namor into whichever category best suits your fancy.
Depending on continuity nobody knows He-Man & She-Ra are royalty besides their inner circles. So they might not work. Heroes who are open royalty is a different story. Princess Ariel from Thundarr's Earth is a possibility.
Who brought Lord Zedd to the 30th (or 31st) Century? Given who the non-Ranger team is, I would guess this is a foul scheme of...THE TIME TRAPPER!
ReplyDeleteThe legion, i parts, were on Smallville and Supergirl tv. Some, very nicely done.
ReplyDeleteand the 1990s Legion animated had 2 seasons and not Superboy, but Superman.:(
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the Guardians of the Galaxy team up with the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. It would be an extremely showy team-up!

ReplyDeleteIt'll probably be an HBO Max series, but full of foul language and nudity because we can't have DC superhero products without that now.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't Time Force have already gotten involved? Or based on when they take place, SPD.

DeleteSo's her namesake from the city of Atlantica ruled by King Triton.
DeleteHow about Power Rangers meet the Alien Legion?
