Fantastic Four and Space Cabbie

More recent versions of Space Cabbie depict him with a very futuristic looking taxicab.  There was something cool to me about the original version, just a regular looking taxi with a big ol' fin in the back, zipping through the cosmos.

  1. On an unrelated note, maybe Thundarr could meet a 60’s Hanna-Barbera hero.

  2. @Anon806: I don't see why not. Technically, Thundarr is a Ruby-Spears character. After they left Hanna-Barbera, circa the post-Bicentennial Seventies!

@Ross: this version of the space cab reminds me of the Fantasticar from "...First Steps." Talk about retro-futuristic coolness!

  3. Actually, some limited shapeshfting on the cab would seem logical to me. Then any time Cabbie sets down on a planet, he could make the cab look like a "normal" taxi from that locality.

As for today's cover, I gather from the tags that the cab was drawn by Bernard Sachs. I wonder if anyone told him at the time that in this particular image the fin looks like it's actually the trunk's lid flying open.

    1. Hey! There's an idea for a sequel. Space Cabbie's cab is actually an alternate-future Bumblebee the Transformer!

    1. Solar winds collected by the "trunk lid flying open?"

  5. Speaking of futuristic.... shouldn't it be an Intergalactic Uber or Cosmic Lyft or something else by now?

Gotta appeal to that Gen-Z crowd, right?
