Some of my earliest memories are of my father reading
Frog & Toad stories to my sister and I before bedtime. Even as a kid, I had an appreciation for the beautiful illustrations that those books had. I can still remember my father's deep voice saying "Chugarum!" as Grandfather Frog.
A tale such as this sounds absolutely ribbiting!
ReplyDeleteWhat Anon647 said! But, this morning's brilliant cover raises an interesting question: if Frog and Toad became costumed crime-fighters in Gotham City, would they drive a Batrachian-mobile?
DeleteNow, for a slightly more serious question: has there ever been a Beta Ray Throg?
DeleteOkay, you did it to me again- you made me laugh out loud. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteMy younger brother was into the Frog and Toad books when we were kids. I had a tendency to read anything that wasn't nailed down (and some things that were), so of course I read them all.
never saw Frog and Toad, but they look like "regular people". Now, if they met Howard the Duck....
ReplyDeleteOr even the Pet Avengers!
DeleteI can just see the word balloon on real-world cover: "Come, my friends! Let us celebrateth Cinco De Mayo by drinking some mead (with flies in it)!"
ReplyDeleteI'd rather see Beta Ray Throg and Godzilla double-teaming the Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man!
DeleteBut just wait until the Dark Newt rises!
