Alas, there was no mention of Bill Foster when The Ghost returned in Thunderbolts. I haven't heard that Laurence Fishburne is in the cast for Avengers: Doomsday. Is there a chance he will appear in Avengers Secret Wars? Or will we have to wait for the inevitable MCU reboot where perhaps a younger actor will take over the role?

I can't answer any of those questions, Ross. But, I can inform your younger readers that this morning's cover was partially inspired by LUKE CAGE, POWER MAN #50! Wherein, Bill Foster was temporarily trapped at giant-size...and inadvertently working for the Circus of Crime. Which, in turn, explains the presence of pre-Nightwing Dick Grayson.
ReplyDeleteThis was probably the Haly and Norton Circus (his family's former employers) hypnotically usurped by Maynard "the Ringmaster" Tiboldt and accomplices as a front!
Deadshot is a great one to fit the BILL as a gunsul!! grand cover for the story!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking cover! All of the disparate elements complement one another nicely!
ReplyDeleteUnrelated to this (seriously quite intriguing) cover, I've just realized that, while DC is its share of "human brain in a robot body" characters such as Metallo and the two Robotmen, I can't think of any such characters at Marvel. I think the closest we could come to a match-up would be Robocop vs. Metallo,
ReplyDeleteWell, in a broader sense, you have the synthezoid Vision whose computer brain has the encoded mental patterns of Simon Williams (cyborg by proxy). Plus, the Frankenstein Monster (sort of a proto-steampunk cyborg)!
DeleteHow about Deathlok?
Delete@Bob Buethe: which version?
Delete@Other Bob: Isn't Deathlok basically a cyborg zombie? Or am I conflating him with someone else?
DeleteThat could basically describe almost all of the post-Luther Manning Deathloks (with the possible exception of Michael Collins)!
DeleteBoll?
ReplyDeleteAs in, German director Uwe "Der Toilet" Boll? The schlockmeister whose cinematic adaptations of formerly popular video games were mega-flops at the box office?
DeleteRoss, I went back to look at all of the old Black Goliath postings of yours and saw you've only used his original costume. I was always a fan of the newer one, and apparently Bashful Benjy agreed with me, lol...

Reg, I've used that costume - but he's called Giant Man when he wears that one.
ReplyDeleteThe next time you do depict him in the Giant Man outfit, could you have him teaming up with Mal Duncan as the Hornblower? If only for the matching blue-and-white color scheme!
