They've never quote been A-list characters, but I have enjoyed the Royal Flush Gang in all of their incarnations, from the old west to present day to the future. The family aspect of the team plus rotating roster of Aces always keep them interesting.
I like to think the real-world issue would've been entitled...
ReplyDeleteX-CLUSIVE CLUB!
Real-world issue, nothing. This would've been a kick-butt episode of X-MEN: EVOLUTION animated by the gang from BATMAN BEYOND!
DeleteI do recall the time Ace turned out to be the Joker in disguise -- and nobody ever commented that, in poker, jokers are count for "aces, straights, and flushes" -- of which, in this case, he did all three.
ReplyDeleteSay, I just had a thought... how about a photo cover with Bill Bixby in a dual role of David Banner (The Incredible Hulk) and Tony Blake (The Magician)? Even without the double-casting aspect, I think that would make a fun adventure!
Why not? Bill Bixby and Ray Walston certainly had fun reuniting on an episode of THE INCREDIBLE HULK called "My Favorite Magician" (with Mr. Walston as a down-on-his-luck stage mage)!
DeleteNext Halloween, Hulk meets a Magician while a friendly Martian helps from the sidelines. "Travel Troubles"!
DeleteWhy not after all the Joker created the Royal Flush Gang.
DeleteWhen you have good variety of input, you can see flaws you can't on your on. IE: Superman movie 2025, plot point on why Clark was sent to Earth. Flaw (by someone else)..Supergirl could translate and tell what was wanted.
ReplyDeleteRoyal flush gang? A diversionary tail by that cur, Arcade.
I am not familiar with that version of the Royal Flush Gang. Where are they from?
ReplyDeleteThey are the JLU version from Justice league Unlimited #23
ReplyDeleteBeing that yesterday was Veterans' Day, I was half-expecting Crusaders vs. Crusaders (1980's pastiches of the Invaders and the Freedom Fighters, respectively). But, I still like this match-up, too!
ReplyDeleteBut THIS Ace? Arcade has screwed up! With Rogue and Jean Grey in the mix? This Ace actually DOES care about being reached out to... About connection. And she's the lynchpin. Arcade should be justly terrified when Jean Grey reaches Ace's mind and Ace sees who understands her and who needs to be Afraid.
ReplyDeleteYeah, even Waller felt sorry for Ace (sort of) and Batman was at his best with her.
DeleteHe even named his Bat-hound after her!
DeleteNext up: Mangog and the Inferior Five double-team...Mr. Universe!
