Sometimes there was a cover on the racks that had so much going on that it practically dared you to try an resist picking it up. Needless to say I had to at least flip through. The above scenario is just the kind of image that would have had me hooked.

Totally agree Ross. I'd be opening this issue now if I could.
ReplyDeleteGreat cover and love the use of the old Wanted logo as a bonus!
ReplyDeleteBatgirl has a hot date
ReplyDelete@Anon740: GOOD ONE!!! :-)
Delete@Ross: from the expression on his face, I'd hazard to guess that Doc Doom inhaled some of the Scarecrow's fear-omones Which really should be impossible. As an anticipatory genius like Doom should have some kind of emergency air supply/purification system built into his armor! And that, precisely, is why I'd be buying this issue in real life. To answer the question you've so accurately described (and tantalizingly posed
I'd buy it just to find how someone like Scarecrow managed to knock Doctor Doom onto his metallic ass! The Joker maybe I could see it (and still love it too), but Scarecrow?! It seems to me that would be Doctor Doom's most humiliating moment ever!
ReplyDeleteScarecrow? No, Jason; all Dr. Crane would need to do to Doom would be to play off Victor's well-concealed, PTSD-induced sciurophobia.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Ross... what if #5000 were to be followed up by Super-Team Family: The Role-Playing Game? That, at least, could be a good excuse to feature a cover with a random assortment of characters, from classics and familiar flagships (Superman, Bugs Bunny, Wolverine, Captain Kirk, Yoda, Snoopy, Calvin) to some who otherwise would never appear here for any number of reasons (Defender, Felix the Cat, Sailor Moon, Goku, Aahz).
Or, to revert to something much simpler that I've been wanting for a while, Jim Gordon and Jonah Jameson going head to head... possibly arguing about how to best deal with Omni-Man. (Anybody want a peanut M&M?)
Omni-Man always struck me as resembling Jameson. But, with Superman's powers!
DeleteOmni Man... now if there's a 'superhero' who should have had J. Jonah Jameson inflicted on him, he's the one. Or, what if Jameson were editor in chief of The Daily Planet rather than the Daily Bugle, and gave Superman a hard time?
ReplyDeleteAs for Doom, I suppose Scarecrow could also use his opwn inflated ego against him too. If Doom thought he was out in public in just his undies... and no mask... that might deflate him sufficiently too. But yeah I get the sciurophobia reference... Squirrel Girl literally drove him nuts I guess.
GOOD ONE!!!!! :-)
Deleteis Jim Gordon riding on the back of Batgirl's bike?? And still saying THAT??
ReplyDeleteThe Commish of Gotham City does not play favorites.
DeleteCarycomic: The fact that Omni-man was voiced in the cartoon by the same actor who played Jameson in the Spider-Man movies may have a lot to do with that, too.
ReplyDelete"I am Jameson. Boom-boom-boom-boom! Boom-boom-BOOM!"
DeleteTo all other JKS fans: sorry! Couldn't resist.
