The Hulk and Blue Beetle in: "Bodyguarding Banner!"

This is the third meeting between these heroes.  They first met with Booster Gold and The Defenders way back in STF #165, and The Hulk almost replaced Booster in STF #1855...

Blue Beetle took a little tweaking on this one.  Here's a peek behind the scenes:

  1. I'm definitely still half-asleep. When I first saw this, I thought: "How can Beetle Bailey protect the Hulk from Thunderbolt Ross?"

  2. LOL! That, I would've gladly shelled out $0.60 for! :-)

  3. Anon, one of the best questions in some time... Carycomic, wouldn't you agree?
Great to seebTed being taken seriously since one of him did give his life for the League and Maxwell is still remembered for it. Ted might tell Hulk to follow him since Hulk might forget details. Shame Ted couldn't team with Rick Jones as well.

  4. This looks like an older, interior drawing of the Hulk, too, though I could be mistaken.

Say, I'm pretty sure Batman and the Hulk have met several times on this blog, but has it ever been done in a way that notes their shared first names?

  5. My namesake@9:05 could probably answer that better than I could. ;-)

  6. There was one cover called "A Tale of Two Bruces", if I remember correctly. And an upcoming cover also riffs off of them having the same first name as well, stay tuned.

    1. It was "One Bruce Too Many" from THE BRAVE & THE BOLD:TLI #212 @ Nov. 1, 2011. There have been seven Bat-Hulk crossovers here, altogether (including STF #3139, as the relatively most recent one @ 11/16/2020).

  7. I'll look forward to that, Ross!

Meanwhile, this extremely unlikely pairing just came to my mind: Groo and the Phantom Stranger. (Bonus points if the latter character is done by Alex Ross.)

  8. Ted has appeared too often with the Hulk. Most of them are hardly noteworthy. A quick search through the Blue B. tags (they're all lumped together for some reason) shows the last time a Blue Beetle teamed with a solo super-heroine was back in 2021(over 4 years ago for 52% of the population) with the 1st BB meeting the Black Widow.

The Ted version last teamed up with a solo female (Marvel's Phoenix) also over 4 years ago (in 2021). It'd be nice to see some different heroines bounce off the Ted version in some new ways, like having Dagger or Photon use his Strobe gun's light to attack a foe. The Beetle craft can go underwater so maybe an adv. with Namorita or Fathom (from The Elementals) for something different than the same old match-ups heading for double-digit appearances.

  9. What a collection of anonymous ANONYMOUS!! Did anyone stop for lunch? Ted still talking to his lord, Lord ..or does he feel he has reached a Checkmate?
Diff Earth, diff history. Diff section of the multi-verse!! Have Brainiac talk to the Impossible Man to learn magic or at least, cell manipulation. Wonder how he'd feel about chocolate cake? The crumb.

  10. By the way, i think A Tale of 2 Beetles could be interesting, but a nest of Beetles? Beetle Bailey, Marvel's Beetle, Blue Beetle, & the pre Ted model? That would be Grounds for ..ah, forget it! You could NEVER keep 4 Beatles together !!
