Captain America and The Question

Chris Evans is insisting that he will not be a part of Avengers: Doomsday, so the Steve Rogers Captain America will apparently continue to be off the board in the MCU if he is to be believed.  Still, the lackluster box office and critical reception of Sam Wilson's cinematic outing as Captain America may have Marvel thinking about bringing Rogers back at some point.

  1. Well, if Marvel Comics could break their own rule about Bucky staying dead (way back in Capt. America v.5/#8 @ July 2005), then Marvel Films could certainly find a way to make Steve Rogers reappear. Even if played by someone other than Chris Evans!

  2. "Avengers: Doomsday"? Marvel/Disney is doing a crossover with WB/DC by bringing in the quasi-Kryptonian version of the Hulk?!

    I love it! :-D

  4. Maybe the wacky '50s version of Cap.

  5. I think the real Question is: what is Wonder Woman doing to solve the mystery of her husband's disappearance? I mean, let's face it. This July 4th will mark the 2nd anniversary since the last time the Wonder Couple appeared here...together!

  6. The Wikipedia article on the movie does state that Chris Evans has been cast "in an undisclosed role." I've seen some rumors that the Fantastic Four cast that he was a part of will appear, but my personal theory is that he'll be playing the Beyonder.

  7. Speaking of Doomsday, how about him vs. Cthulhu? Or maybe even Cthulhu vs. Mangog?

  9. if Spidy can be done by others AND they meet.. Cap can be played by anyone as far as Marvel is concerned. look at Superman and Batman. No concern about any actor.

    1. By that post-Flashpoint logic, Ben Affleck could go back to playing Daredevil and Ryan Reynolds could reprise playing Green Lantern Hal Jordan.

    2. Sure,. Even Michael Keaton came back to play Batman with George Clooney playing Bruce Wayne in the same movie.

    3. We've also seen Wesley Snipes back as Blade, Jennifer Garner back as Elektra... and Patrick Stewart will probably stop only playing Professor X when he's dead. Half the classic X-Men are coming back for Doomsday/Secret Wars, and who knows who else? Even Lou Ferrigno has said that he'd be game to come back as the Hulk. So, yeah, we could even get not only Ben Affleck but (have fun looking these up) Nicholas Hammond, David Hasselhoff, and Reb Brown.

    4. @Bob Greenwade: they'd probably appear as if by magic (along with Peter Hooten).

  11. Somewhat different Question: has Doomsday ever taken on the Red Lantern Hulk?

    1. Save Mangog for Lobo @ STF #4900!

  12. If not, you could make that the next villain mash-up @ STF #4850. Doomsday vs. the Red Lantern Corps (including the Red Hulk)!

  13. Heh! That's weird. How'd my postscript wind up in front of the main missive?
