Nick Fury and The Six Million Dollar Man
I always has a soft spot in my heart for The Six Million Dollar Man. his show was my first memory of a live action superhero after all. I even had the action figure. I think that Steve Austin would fit right in with an agency like S.H.I.E.L.D.
I still get a kick out of the original TV-pilot film. Steve knocks down a jail cell door and his cellmate asks (quite excitedly, of course) how he did that. To which Steve replies: "Vitamins!"
I'd have Max being sought for membership by both Robo Force and Ace the Bat-hound's Dogs of War. While Jamie Sommers should team up with Buffy Summers against Adam the Cyborg-demonoid (Mark II).
Steve Austin was the first in what I saw as "plainclothes superheroes," alongside The Invisible Man (David McCallum), The Man From Atlantis, and eventually the Misfits of Science, among others. To see a photo cover with these icons (for better or worse) would be epic.
(I consider Misfits of Science to be a sadly underrated show, by the way.)
@Carycomic: Bob is referring to Max Wright; the actor who played Dean Paul Martin's boss on M.O.S. He later gained more fame as the head of the family that more or less adopted Alien Life Form Gordo Shumway of Melmac.
How about a Venture Bros. story where the Guild of Calamitous Intent has to work with the Office of Secret Intelligence to stop someone whom the Guild designates as an Equally Matched Agression Level 11: Rick *belch* Sanchez!
This is a natural matchup with Steve Austin working for government agency and Life Model Decoys and him likely having similar technology.

ReplyDeleteP.S.---how about an eventual movie poster featuring Batman '66 and Ronald McDonald vs. the Condiment King?
ReplyDeleteCarycomic , guest stars Popeye & Olive Oil?
DeleteNah! They deserve a cover all to themselves. Like, say, one depicting their wedding night...on a bed of spinach?
DeleteAlong with future aid by the Bionic Woman and Maxmillian, the bionic dog??

but Max went on to ALF!!
DeleteTo defend ALF from Streaky and the rest of the Cat Precinct?

DeleteOops! My bad.
DeleteIf Captain America got a power ring, would he be better???
ReplyDeleteThat would depend on which version of Cap you're referring to; Steve Rogers or Sam Wilson?
DeleteEh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-ehhh... (Bionic Sound Effect)
ReplyDeleteSounds more like Popeye overdosing on spinach.
DeleteOn a lighter note, have Steve Austin meet Inspector Gadget?
ReplyDeleteDet. Tobor would probably quip how it will be a Stone-Cold day when that happens. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHere are two related team-up ideas: 'The Six Million Dollar Man from UNCLE', and Maxmillian, the bionic dog, meets Maxwell Smart...
ReplyDelete"WOWSERS!"
DeleteSpeaking of the O.S.I., would characters from the Venture Bros. appear in a future issue?
ReplyDeletePlease, no; Ross forbid!

DeleteOr, failing that, how about Rick Sanchez vs. Blackbolt and Black Canary? "Enter The Belcher!"
