I always has a soft spot in my heart for The Six Million Dollar Man. his show was my first memory of a live action superhero after all. I even had the action figure. I think that Steve Austin would fit right in with an agency like S.H.I.E.L.D.

ReplyDeleteI still get a kick out of the original TV-pilot film. Steve knocks down a jail cell door and his cellmate asks (quite excitedly, of course) how he did that. To which Steve replies: "Vitamins!"

DeleteSteve Austin was the first in what I saw as "plainclothes superheroes," alongside The Invisible Man (David McCallum), The Man From Atlantis, and eventually the Misfits of Science, among others. To see a photo cover with these icons (for better or worse) would be epic.
