I still remember Robin Williams' first appearance as Mork on a episode of Happy Days. It made a big impression and I distinctly recall the kids at school discussing it at school the next morning. I was at the right age to really get a kick out of his antics, so I thought that it was cool to see him cast as Popeye a few years later. He and Shelley DuVall really embodied their roles in that one, still two of my favorite comic book character performances ever.

ReplyDeleteI never knew Mork & Mindy ended on such an insane cliffhanger. I think I stopped watching it after a couple of seasons. Right around the time they had their kid and it turned out to be Jonathan Winters. Shame that it was never resolved...

ReplyDeleteBy the way, speaking of the Popeye movie, I also loved the performance of Ray Walston as Poopdeck Pappy. Coincidentally, he also played an alien in the TV sitcom My Favorite Martian....

ReplyDeleteLoved the light-hearted nature of the covers from today and yesterday. Wish a lot more modern comics would be this fun. (Hey, DC! Marvel has Squirrel Girl and Howard the Duck and Moongirl.... Get with it!)
Second, I came looking for a cover I was *sure* would be here but it isn't. Can't believe it's never been requested although I'm sure that putting together covers with two teams is a challenge. But how about bringing together the Marvel and DC teams where villains "break good" and do a cover with the Thunderbolts and the Suicide Squad?
DC has Harley Quinn and Ambush Bug. They don't need any more "comic" relief.
